  • Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from your authentication provider. Guest users provide only a display name.
  • Household information: Household names, invite codes, and member roles that you create within the App.
  • Meal data: Meal names, dinner times, notes, and meal library entries that you add to your household.
  • Preferences: Notification settings, meal label preferences, and other configuration choices.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers for push notification delivery.
  • Usage data: App interactions, feature usage patterns, and crash reports to improve the App's performance and reliability.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect precise geolocation data.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, or other device files.
  • We do not collect financial or payment information.
  • Guest users (including children) are not required to provide an email address or any personal information beyond a display name.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality
  • Synchronise meal plans and household data across family members' devices in real time
  • Send push notifications about dinner plans, reminders, and schedule changes
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Diagnose technical issues and improve app stability

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:

  • Within your household: Meal plans, dinner schedules, and your display name are visible to other members of your household.
  • Service providers: We use third-party services (e.g., cloud hosting, authentication providers, push notification services) that process data on our behalf to operate the App. These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:

  • Secure authentication via Google OAuth with PKCE and Apple native sign-in
  • Row-level security ensuring users can only access their own household's data
  • Sensitive credentials stored in iOS Keychain and Android Keystore
  • Encrypted data transmission via HTTPS/TLS

While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

Dinny is designed for family use, including children. Children can join a household as guest users using only a display name and an invite code — no email address, date of birth, or other personal information is required. Guest accounts are managed by the household administrator (parent/guardian). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond a display name. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information beyond what is described here, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. When you delete your account, all associated personal data, household membership, and meal data are permanently removed from our systems. Guest users who leave a household have their data removed immediately.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (available directly in the App under Settings > Account > Delete Account)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
